A couple of months ago, we made contact with a business called Solid Print3D, a supplier of 3D Scanning & 3D printing equipment to purchase or to hire. As part of our overall plans to refurbish the historic lifeboat ‘Rotary Service’ with the aim to use her as a youth training vessel to help 12-25 year olds to gain maritime skills.
We need to be able to accurately design aspects of the internal fit out and provide data to those who are potentially manufacturing and/or fitting these. In order to help us with this goal, Solid Print3D sent out their technical engineer Dan, who using the Leica BLK360, tripod mounted laser scanner has been able to accurately capture both the inside and the outside of the boat in full colour.
